ARTICLE. From Brittney Ruffier on August 11th, 2025.

Friends, swimmers, and ocean lovers— Next Saturday, August 16, 2025 I’ll be swimming for 8 hours straight as part of my training to cross the Catalina Channel 9/15/25.

I will be doing my eight hour training swim along our beautiful coastline, jumping from the boat in front of the jetty at 8:00 AM on Saturday and swimming down the coast and back until my eight hours is up, feel free to give a wave from the beach.

This time, it’s not just about my personal goal—it’s about giving back. 🌊 I’m dedicating this swim to ALAS, a local nonprofit that uplifts and supports our community.

The funds I raise will go toward water safety training, so more people—especially kids and families—can learn how to stay safe in the ocean and in pools.

As swimmers, we know the joy and freedom of the water—but also its risks. Together, we can help ensure more people have the skills and knowledge to enjoy the water safely.

If you’d like to support my swim and this cause close to my heart, please donate here: 💙 alasdreams.com/donate (Be sure to note “Brittney’s Swim” in the donation comment). Every mile I swim next weekend will be powered by your encouragement and generosity.

Let’s make a splash for water safety! — Brittney 🏊‍♀️💪🌊
