PRESS RELEASE. Notice of Vacancy for the Coastside County Water District (CCWD) Board of Directors, February 23rd, 2026. More on Coastside County Water District on Coastside Buzz.

Special Meeting on Monday, March 2nd, 2026 at 10:00am. Agenda Item #1: “Resignation of Director Reynolds and Consideration of Process for Filling a Vacancy on the Board of Directors”.

Due to the resignation of Director Glenn Reynolds, a vacancy exists on the Board of Directors of the Coastside County Water District as of February 23, 2026.

If the Board fills the vacancy by appointment, the person appointed to fill the vacancy will hold the office until the next general District election on November 3, 2026; and if the appointed Board member wishes to continue to be on the Board after November 3, 2026, they would be required to run for office in the November 3, 2026, election.

Anyone interested in being appointed to serve on the Board is encouraged to submit a brief statement of interest and qualifications via email, mail, or hand delivery to the District no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Submit applications to Mary Rogren, General Manager | Coastside County Water District | 766 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019 | Ph: (650) 726-4405

The District utilizes a zone-based election system and is divided into five geographic zones. Each Board member must reside in the zone they represent. Only voters residing within a specific zone are eligible to vote for that zone’s Board seat.

For this vacancy, eligible candidates must reside in, and be registered to vote in, Zone 1.

The best way to determine if you reside in Zone 1 is to go to the District’s website and use the interactive map. Find the interactive map at https://coastsidewater.org/board-of-directors/elections/.
NOTE: General Manager, Mary Rogren, said:
“The map is difficult, particularly in the northern end of Zone 1.  The easy section to explain is that Zone 1 includes the west side of Highway 1 going north from Strawflower to Princeton-by-the-Sea. However, the difficult section to explain is the northern end of Zone 1 located on the east side of Hwy 1 that includes some areas of Bridgeport, Sonora and Coral Reef, but not all – as some of these neighborhoods are in Zone 2. If there is a question, our office can confirm.” Contact: You can call 650-726-4405, M-F 8AM-5PM OR customerservice@coastsidewater.org.

How to determine which Zone you are in from GM Rogren:
“For your addresses, you need to type in the address and “Princeton-by-the-Sea” to get the address to pull up. This is also the case for El Granada addresses. This map came from the demographer, and my guess is that the data pull came from County records. For other addresses in the District, Half Moon Bay (city) addresses will generally appear with a list of other similar addresses around the U.S., but it’s best to include the city in the search. We have asked our website developer to add a note in the instructions with the interactive map to include the city in the search criteria (such as El Granada, Princeton-by-the-Sea and Half Moon Bay.)”

Pursuant to Government Code Section 1780, a copy of this Notice of Vacancy is posted in three or more conspicuous places in the District, and it is also posted on the District’s website, www.coastsidewater.org. Pursuant to that section, an appointment to fill the vacancy may be made by the Board of Directors fifteen (15) days after such posting.

At the February 11, 2020 Board of Director’s meeting, the Board voted to change the Coastside County Water District’s electoral system for members of the Board of Directors from at-large to zone elections beginning with the November 3, 2020 election. The District now uses a system based on five zones and has established zone boundaries and sequencing of the elections. Instead of voting for each available open seat on the Board of Directors, you will now vote only for the candidates running within your zone.

On February 8, 2022, at the Regular Board Meeting, the Board of Directors voted to approve the adjusted zone-based boundary map for election of members of the Board of Directors based on 2020 census data for redistricting. See below for the approved map of the District’s 5 electoral zones.
