NOTE: Stonewood Lodge (Frenchmans Creek) Major Development Pre-Application Workshop at Supervisor Mueller’s Office on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025, 6:00pm-7:30pm at Supervisor Mueller’s Office at the Oceano Shoppes 270 Capistrano Road (Suite 6), El Granada.


Project Description:
A public workshop will take place to allow for public comments on a proposal to construct a resort facility which will include construction of a clubhouse, restaurant, wellness center, 12 villas, 6 cabanas, 3 sport courts, a new campground with 12 campsites in the western valley of the property,  owner operator residence, additional site parking, and expansion of the reservoir on the eastern ridge of the property.

The project also proposes to provide 6 farm labor housing units and reconfiguration of existing onsite agriculture in the eastern valley of the property.

The proposed project is located at 37 Frenchman’s Creek Road in the unincorporated Rural Midcoast area of San Mateo County.

The property is approximately 164 acres in size and is zoned PAD/CD (Planned Agricultural District/Coastal Development District) with a General Plan land use designation of Agriculture.

Applicable Regulations, Review, and Approvals Required:
As currently proposed the project requires a hearing-level Grading Permit, Planned Agricultural District Permit, and a Coastal Development Permit. The regulations applicable to the project include the County’s Local Coastal Program, Grading Ordinance, Chapter 20B (Coastal Development District), Chapter 21A (Planned Agricultural District) of the San Mateo County Zoning Regulations. The project will require an environmental assessment and consideration by the Planning Commission at a future public hearing.

The Planning Department will again provide advanced public notice of any future scheduled public meetings on the project.

Midcoast Community Council (MCC) Meetings ~ 2nd & 4th Wednesdays @ 7:00pm

The MCC is an elected Municipal Advisory Council to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, representing unincorporated Montara, Moss Beach, El Granada, Princeton, and Miramar.

The MCC has at-large elections.
