Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

PRESS RELEASE. From Carol Hunter and Hilary Stamper February 2025.

Half Moon Bay, CA – Half Moon Bay has a new venue for community fun and activity: a beginning line dancing class offered through Half Moon Bay Parks and Recreation, led by local dance enthusiasts and community leaders Hilary Stamper and Carol Hunter of Coastside Country. Due to overwhelming interest, the class has already outgrown its original venue, with 60 participants registered for the six-week series—an incredible testament to the enthusiasm for country dance on the Coastside. Enrollment in the full series is waitlisted, but drop-ins are welcome!

Hilary and Carol, two longtime Half Moon Bay residents, first met 16 years ago with Coastside Green Mother’s Club and have been deeply involved in the community ever since. Hilary is a passionate community activist, a previous HMB soccer coach, and Parks and Recreation Commissioner with the city, while Carol has been a reporter for the Half Moon Bay Review, the regional commissioner of Coastside AYSO, an administrator at the Wilkinson School, and currently works as an associate program manager for Healthy Living at Stanford University. Their shared love for dance and community engagement led them to create Coastside Country, a platform dedicated to bringing people together through movement, music, and fun.

“It is so special to be able to share an activity we love with the community that we love,” said Carol. “Line dancing has the ability to bring people from all ages and ideologies together. It is really magical! We are thrilled to bring this experience to the Coastside.”

“I love how line dancing makes dancing so accessible to so many people who otherwise feel shy to dance in public. By taking a lot of the thinking out of the equation, people can enjoy moving with others in a less self-conscious way,” added Hilary. “Plus it’s a great workout bundled together with a country music flash mob! How can you not love that? We’re beyond excited to see so many folks showing up.”

Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, this class is open to all. No partner is required—just a love for music and movement.
