Finding Richard Moss
California State Lifeguard Hunter Murison covers the north end on Montara State Beach today, Saturday, July 15th 2017. In the background (just above the radio antennae) are two jetskis in the water…
PowerRay Underwater Robot Camera and
Brian Overfelt and his Mavericks partner, Andy Erskine, assist Craig Glover from Burlingame’s Powervision to explore the north Montara cliffs by jet ski. Craig guided his PowerRay robot the murky water using primarily sonar to detect objects under water. The $1,900 robot is generally marketed to see what beneath your fishing or recreational boat, without actually getting into the water. In this case, it could help to solve the mystery of Richard Moss’s disappearance on May 25th, 2017.
They waited away from the cliffs between sets and then would sped in to as close to the suspected crevice as they could get, in order to collect data, then back out avoiding the next set of waves.
And then speeding south back to the harbor. Serious business, but serious fun.
I met them back at the harbor. From left Craig Glover, Sara Dunn, Thu-ha Nguyen, Brian Overfelt (from EG) and Andy Erskine, from Pacifica. They found each other on Facebook and since the authorities have had no luck, they just decided to get it done. Love the Coastside!
And here is the PowerRay!
Andy gets the ski back on the trailer. Off and away. Craig is going home now to look at the sonar data. All information is being handed over to the police. They are planning more exploration at the next minus tide. Thu-ha must be given credit for two ravine searches with Dan S. and they both have the poison oak and prednizone to prove it. Why would these people go to such lengths to help to find Richard Moss? Because that is how we fly on the Coastside. We care so much for each other.
