Dear TABLE of PLENTY Donors,

Table of Plenty is Looking for a New Program Director to Carry on Weekly Dinners for the Hungry in our Coastside Community

I wanted to update you on some news about our leadership at TABLE of PLENTY.  As I have informed you over the past several months, after a decade of serving as Director and President of the Board, I have stepped back, and we have put a new Board of Directors in place made up of talented, committed individuals.  I am thrilled to tell you that one of them, Laura Leber Kammeyer, has agreed to take the role of President.  I will continue my participation and support as an Emeritus member of the Board.

Laura is a longtime resident of Half Moon Bay and volunteers regularly along with her husband, Chris, at our weekly dinners.  She joined the TABLE of PLENTY Board in March 2022 lending her expertise, gained over a career in strategic communications.  Laura brings experience and a passion and commitment for our mission.  I feel confident that Laura and the rest of our Board, along with our community of outstanding volunteers and partners, will ensure that our mission will continue to flourish.

Ellen Chiri, our Program Director, is unfortunately resigning due to health concerns. For the past 7 months, Ellen has shared her talent and dedication overseeing our weekly dinners for the hungry in our Coastside community. We thank her for all she has done and wish her the very best.  We are in the process of identifying a new Program Director.  Ellen will stay on through the transition, and Laura and I will assist as well, so that there is no disruption to our weekly meals.

If you or someone you know might be interested in the Program Director position, please contact [email protected] and please don’t hesitate to contact me or Laura with any questions.  We will keep you updated on our progress.

As the TABLE of PLENTY continues to evolve and grow, I am so proud of the strong, sustainable organization we have built and all that we together have accomplished.  Because of you, we have not only served more than 100,000 meals but we have provided a safe haven to people in need in our community, offering loving hospitality for our neighbors and affirming the dignity of each person.

Our mission is more important than ever, and I am thankful to know I can count on your support in the future.  We are always looking for volunteers to join our special mission.  Please contact me or Laura or go to our website at tableofplentyhmb.org if you would like to give your time or treasure to our TABLE of PLENTY.

Bless you and thank you,

Sister Jeanette Braun, SNDdeN

Ellen Chiri and Sister Jeanette Braun TABLE of PLENTY

Ellen Chiri, TOP’s Program Director, and Sr. Jeanette Braun, TOP’s Founding Director working together to serve Thursday supper.

Our first supper was served in January 2013.  Every Thursday evening since, our dedicated TABLE of PLENTY (TOP) volunteers have created an attractive dining room, complete with table cloths, fresh flowers, and live music. Each guest is seated and served a warm, healthy meal by our TOP volunteer servers in black aprons.  We serve struggling families, seniors, and people without homes.

Our TOP volunteers range from 13-80+ years-old. They work together bringing their smiles, warmth and kindness to each guest, who may hunger for more than food.

The TABLE of PLENTY has served over 100,000 meals to people in need in our costal community.

Our partners & collaborators include: Senior Coastsiders, Abundant Grace Coastside Worker, Coastside Hope, No Strings Attached, IDES, Half Moon Bay Bakery, Peninsula Food Runners and many of you, our faithful donors that help make it all possible.

Loving one another is our goal. Sr. Jeanette Braun, SNDdeN, Founding Director of the TABLE of PLENTY says it best: “We honor the dignity of each person. Whether you cook the food, serve it, or greet our guests, we all strive to reflect loving one another at our community supper.”
