NOTICE of VACANCY. From San Mateo County on June 16th, 2026.
President of the Board of Supervisors Noelia Corzo announced that applications are being accepted for appointment to the Veterans Commission. After June 30, 2026, there are four (4) vacancies for consideration on the subject board: Two (2) regular members; and Two (2) Alternate positions. To be eligible, applicants must be residents of San Mateo County, work in the County, or provide services which target and benefit veterans residing in the County.
This 11-member and 2-alternates Commission advises and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, implements an annual work plan, provides a public forum for input from the veterans community to identify unmet needs, works with existing veterans’ advocacy and service organizations to help coordinate systems of care and benefits, and takes positions pertaining to federal, state and local policies, programs and procedures and any legislation affecting veterans and their families, and to fulfill other duties and engage in activities as directed by the Board of Supervisors.
The Commission establishes the time and place of its regular meetings and meets at least 6 times annually, unless otherwise determined by a majority vote of the Commission. Currently it meets on the 2nd Mondays of odd months from 6:30-8 PM in County Government Center, Redwood City.
The deadline for applications is Friday, July 17, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
