As of July 1st, 2024

ID and evaluate all employee housing on unincorporated agricultural/ranch lands

  • 170 units inspected.
  • 128 units are farmworker housing with 343 farmworkers.
  • 15 properties remain to be inspected.

Legal Changes: Pursue a Local Coastal Program (LCP) amendment to establish a Coastal Development Permit (CDP) exemption for Farm Labor Housing projects in areas that will not impact coastal resources as necessary to comply with Coastal Act requirements.

Water: Regular monitoring and inspections of water.

The Commission has 10 members:

  • Four (4) Farmworkers
  • Three (3) Members from community-based organizations
  • One (1) Family member of a farmworker
  • One (1) Member who works in the agriculture industry (but not a farmworker)
  • One (1) San Mateo County Agricultural Advisory Committee member

The members who are farmworkers or a farmworker family member will be paid $100 for each Commission meeting they attend if they are able to meet the Employment Eligibility Verification criteria. Interpretation and translation is provided. The Commission will meet at least 6 times a year, on the 2nd Wednesday of every other month from 7-8:30pm.
