Pillar Point Harbor Surfer’s Beach Dredge Project Notice of Shutdowns to Coastal Trail, East Inner Harbor Entrance Scheduled to Begin Thursday 7/10/2025

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

PRESS RELEASE. From the San Mateo County Harbor District on July 9th, 2025.

We are providing notice for the following near-term events which will affect pedestrian, bicyclist and marine traffic within the projects area and harbor:

7/10 – 7/18
Pipeline launch – Crews will be conducting the final assembly of the dredge pipeline segments and placing them in the water. Each of approximately 6 pieces of pipe will be moved into position on the slope and a final weld will be made to create 700’ pipe sections. We estimate approximately 2-1/2 hours to move and launch each section. This operation is scheduled to begin on 7/10 and complete by 7/18. As the sections are pulled across the Coastal Trail, it will have to be temporarily closed. Crews will work with pedestrians and cyclists to allow limited passage during operations as it is safe to do so.

7/28 – 8/15
Closure of East Inner Harbor Entrance – During dredge operations the east inner harbor entrance will be closed for safety purposes. The west inner harbor entrance will be unaffected. The estimated closure will be from 7/28 through 8/15.

7/28 – 7/29
Closure of Main Outer Harbor Entrance – Once the dredge is onsite, the pipeline will be pulled into final position across the main outer harbor entrance and sunk by filling with water. This operation is expected to take approximately 4 hours and should occur between 7/28 and 7/29. After installation, the sunken dredge pipe is planned to be deep enough to allow for full use of the outer harbor entrance.
