NOAA says 100% El Niño This Winter 2024 so Get Prepared

PRESS RELEASE. NOAA’s Warning Coordination Meteorologist, Brian Garcia, says that not all El Niños are the same. Even with El Niño it is possible to only get 70% of our annual rain, but in 2 big impactful storms, and still be classified as ‘dry’ for the season. If the storm surges, king tides, and high surf collide, there will likely be coastal flooding.

Another danger on the California coast is having nice weather with high surf. This is what happened in 2020 to 2021 where 15 people drowned in the surf zone. Never turn your back on the ocean.

NOAA reports that there have been 25 billion dollar plus disasters in 2023 already, and says the year is not over yet.

These storms will be warm and so the Tahoe ski season will likely be best appreciated in the high altitudes.
