Be in the Know Before You Go Tide Pooling
Check out this public service announcement running on local television stations about the marine protected areas (MPA) of San Mateo County coast. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is a special place as both an area of biological significance and a MPA which draws thousands of visitors throughout the year. The extreme low tides that make for ideal tide pooling often occur in the winter months.

As part of the Montara State MPA, the San Mateo County Parks Department manages Fitzgerald Marine Reserve according to guidelines set by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to protect and conserve marine life and associated habitats. We encourage people to experience and protect this sensitive area by following the advisements contained in the 30 second public service announcement. The messages are clear and the photography is spectacular.
