Cruzio got a $5.65M grant for their “Summits to the Sea” proposal. I met with them and they are looking to spend money on the Coastside making internet better. I wanted to make sure public agencies have the opportunity to Cruz. Plus, it’d be nice if Main Street has speedy internet for businesses and the Pumpkin Festival.
The San Mateo County Supervisors hired StarChase for a high speed police pursuit management system to minimize risks and maximize apprehensions. That and ALRP cameras will give sheriffs more tools to get the bad guys. Robocop next?
San Mateo County Harbor District was awarded $3M for the “Surfers Beach Pilot Restoration Project” including the dredging of Pillar Point Harbor by the Ocean Protections Council. The Harbor District will put up $4.7M but costs won’t really be known until Requests for Proposals go out.
There’s a Humpback Whale in Pillar Point Harbor chomping on the anchovies. Paddlers please stay 100 yards away and boats need to go slow. I’ve been surprised how many paddlers have ignored these rules. Listen to NOAA, the Marine Mammal Center and coastal local Sue Pemberton on Nextdoor (she is California Academy of Sciences).
Half Moon Bay’s Purisima Creek Redwoods preserve parking and trailhead have reopened!! Go out and have fun.
