PRESS RELEASE. From the Half Moon Bay History Association August 31st, 2023.
We’ve been very busy at the
HMB History Association in 2023. After years of hard work and commitment, the
Coastside History Museum has opened! I hope that you will visit the restored barn behind the jail if you haven’t yet had a chance to do so.
This year, we have also expanded our oral history program, are ramping up the second phase of our historic plaque project, and have taken our education program back into schools for the first time since the pandemic. Our speaker series continues to be well-attended, and the
Coastside Chronicles, our quarterly publication has been providing a wealth of information to our members.
And there’s more good news!
In June, 100+ Women Who Care Coastside voted to give the HMB History Association their grand prize of $7897.50.
Earlier this month, we learned that we had won a competitive award for $44,750 from the National Institute of Museum and Library Services. The award enables us to develop a new education program for middle and high school students, reaching bilingual and Latinx students on the Coastside. The new program will be made available for use in other areas of San Mateo County.
These are exciting times for the HMB History Association, and we’re grateful for your ongoing support as we work to share our rich history with visitors and our local community.
