This event features guest speaker Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, who will speak about the impact of Green Foothills’ work on the environment in the Peninsula and South Bay. Green Foothills will also premiere a film about its Coastal Resilience Program, which works to address new coastal challenges caused by climate change, including sea level rise, erosion, flooding, heat, and wildfires.
Green Foothills, which has been a voice for local nature since 1962, has been instrumental in protecting the San Mateo County coast over the years. It successfully worked to pass measures that strengthened San Mateo County’s Local Coastal Program; successfully campaigned to expand Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District to the coast; helped draft and pass Measure T mandating a tunnel at Devil’s Slide, saving Montara Mountain and leading to the creation of the Devil’s Slide Trail; among many other successful campaigns to protect the local environment in the Peninsula and South Bay.
