This five-week class will introduce the many techniques used for painting with acrylics as a new medium for the artist.
Students will learn canvas preparation, mixing, layering, the use of finish mediums, the uses of different types of brushes, and the use and range of pallet knives. Students will create their paintings from on-site still life arrangements and/or from their favorite photographs.
The following materials are required and will be provided for each student at a cost of $76.00 (+tax) payable to the instructor on the first day of class:
- 5 – 11×14″ canvases ($21)
- Beechwood art 25″ table easel ($30)
- Assortment of brushes ($10)
- Assortment of pallet knives ($7)
- Blending sponge ($1.50)
All student materials will be purchased the week before class by the instructor. Students must inform GCSD at registration time, if they do not need any or some of the listed materials (the costliest is the easel, but is essential).
Intermediate drawing skill required.
