Community and Stakeholder Engagement

Public outreach and coordination for any potential adaptation project PIDs in this area must be
comprehensive and inclusive, given the strong community interest in parking availability,
coastal trails, and access to the shoreline. The following groups are considered key stakeholders
to engage in this process starting in March 2026:

  • Midcoast Community Council
  • California Coastal Commission
  • San Mateo County Harbor District
  • Local area residents
  • City of Half Moon Bay
  • San Mateo County
  • San Mateo County Resource Conservation District
  • Community of El Granada
  • Businesses around Surfers Beach
  • El Granada Community Services District – proposed community park
Caltrans will host a public discussion workshop to assess local concerns and gather information
that can be used in the initial development of potential alternatives in March 2026.
