PRESS RELEASE. From the City of Half Moon Bay on July 10th, 2025.
The HMB Architectural Advisory Committee (AAC) met on July 10th, 2025 at 9:00am at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on 537 Kelly Avenue. Staff memo. Plans.
Minutes (including public questions and staff answers).
The City of Half Moon Bay has begun the public review process for a proposed project known as Aaron’s Beach Inn, at 4150 Cabrillo Highway North (owner/applicant: Paul McGregor), between Sam’s Chowder House and the Beach House Hotel.
The current proposal includes:
- A three-story hotel with 20 guest rooms featuring kitchenettes and a rooftop deck
- A front parking lot with access from Highway 1, bicycle parking, landscaping, and a trash enclosure
- A swimming pool and patio area at the rear of the property, with a walking path connecting to the Coastal Trail
- Public coastal access and dedicated coastal access public parking
Given the site’s proximity to bluffs, dunes, and marine habitat, the project will undergo environmental review, including a Biological Resource Evaluation (BRE) with a 45-day public comment period, which will begin later this month.
The Architectural Advisory Committee (AAC) conducted its first review of the site and building design this morning (July 10).
This meeting focused on architectural design and provided an early opportunity for the community to learn more about the proposal and provide feedback on the proposed design. The review process for the project proposal is ongoing. Future public meetings will include additional architectural review, Planning Commission study sessions, and ultimately a Planning Commission hearing. The applicant is also planning to host a public meeting to receive community input on the proposal.
For more information and to sign up for project updates, please visit the City’s project page.
Additionally, you can email aaronsbeachinn@halfmoonbay.gov with any questions or comments.
