PRESS RELEASE. From the Superior Court of California County of San Mateo on February 9th, 2026.
About the Civil Grand Jury.
The Honorable Stephanie Garratt, Presiding Judge of the San Mateo County Superior Court, announced the appointment of the Honorable Renee Reyna, as San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury advisor. Judge Reyna’s term will begin July 1st, 2026 and end June 30th, 2027.
The application period to serve on the 2026-2027 Civil Grand Jury opens on February 2nd, 2026 and will close on March 30th, 2026.
“Any U.S. citizen and San Mateo County resident, 18 years of age or older, of ordinary intelligence, sound judgment and good character, with sufficient knowledge of the English language” is eligible for selection by Judge Reyna. Elected public officials are not eligible.
As the Court strives to obtain a cross section of the county population to serve in this prestigious role, we encourage all interested individuals to apply. After the completion of an interview process, conducted by Judge Reyna, jurors will be selected through a random draw.
Application forms can be obtained online at: https://www.sanmateo.courts.ca.gov/divisions/grand-jury
The San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury is for a twelve-month period commencing July 1, 2025,
and ending June 30, 2026, and that such service will require the attendance, at a minimum, of two general meetings each month of the entire Grand Jury year in addition to intervening portions of one or two days a week devoted to committee meetings.
The total time requirement can be up to 15 to 20 hours per week. Reasonable vacations are permitted.
I am also aware that I will be expected to participate in a three-day interactive videoconference training sometime between June and August of 2025.
There is a need for good health, no plans for vacation, travel, or business (other than those indicated
in the application) that would prevent one from serving the required amount of time.
