Navigating the fog? Pillar Point is a coastal safe harbor with a dedicated @uscg foghorn for our boating community.
To reduce noise pollution on land, the Coast Guard replaced the old 360-degree foghorn and it no longer sounds automatically. When visibility drops, boaters must manually activate it.
✅Tune your VHF radio to channel 83A
✅Key your microphone 6 times to trigger the sound signal
This awareness is key to preventing boating incidents and accidents.
Come stop by the Pillar Point Harbormaster’s Office for a free sticker for you boat with these instructions from our Harbor Patrol team!
The foghorn at Pillar Point has guided our local fleets since the 1970s. Maintained and operated by the U.S. Coast Guard, we are committed to safeguarding this resource and keeping our harbor safe and accessible for all!
