ENEWS. From the City of Half Moon Bay on July 2nd, 2026.
On July 9 and 10, you may notice drilling equipment on the east side of Highway 1 near Frenchman’s Creek. This work is part of the planning process for the City’s Eastside Parallel Trail – Segment 2 project, which includes a new pedestrian bridge over the creek. The work helps engineers better understand the ground conditions needed to design the future bridge.
All work will take place on the east side of Highway 1 within the Caltrans right-of-way and outside the creek area. A project biologist will also be onsite to monitor activities and conduct environmental surveys to help protect local wildlife and habitat.

Project Description: The Eastside Parallel Trail North – Segment 2 Project includes the extension of a 12-foot wide bicycle/pedestrian (multi-purpose) Class I trail from Spindrift Way to Ruisseau Francais Avenue, approximately 1,600 feet. This project also includes a new bridge crossing over Frenchman’s Creek and is an extension of the Highway 1 Safety Projects. Click here for Concept Plan.
Project Status: Design work is anticipated to begin in Spring 2026.
Funding Source(s): The City of Half Moon Bay received a Federal Earmark, under the U.S. House Appropriation Bill, of $2,000,000 to start the design of this project. Additional funding is required to fully fund construction of the project. The City is seeking grant opportunities to fund the construction.
Latest Update: The Eastside Parallel Trail North – Segment 2 project has been programmed into the 5-year Capital Improvement Program.

Half Moon Bay City Council Meetings ~ 1st & 3rd Tuesdays @ 7:00pm
The City Council of Half Moon Bay is the City’s governing body, and consists of five elected members. The Council sets priorities and policies, makes final decisions on all major City matters, adopts ordinances and resolutions, appoints the City Manager and City Attorney, and approves the annual budget.
The Half Moon Bay City Council typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month starting at 7:00pm at the Ted Adcock Community Center, 535 Kelly Avenue.

The City of Half Moon Bay holds district-based elections for its five city council seats. Each Councilmember is elected to a 4 year term. There are no term limits in Half Moon Bay. The City Council selects one of its members to serve as Mayor and one to serve as Vice Mayor, on an annual basis.
- November 2024 Election – Districts 2 and 3 will elect a representative to a four-year term.
- November 2026 Election – Districts 1, 4, and 5 will elect a representative to a four-year term.
