PODCAST. Every Friday Michelle Dragony, the Chief Buzz Officer of Coastside Buzz, sits down with KPDO (& KZSG’s) Catherine Peery to review the Weekly Buzz Mail.

The San Mateo County Supervisors approved $900k in Measure K funds for Fifth Crow Farm’s farmworker homes in Pescadero. There are four mobile homes to be installed. The money is actually a 20 year forgivable loan and all of this is in partnership with POST. Peninsula Open Space Trust.

LAFCO also known as the Local Agency Formation Commission, approved the annexation of the CSA-11 water system to include Pescadero High School and the new Fire Station #59 off of Cloverdale Road. The approval came after two Pescadero Municipal Advisory Commission members and two farmers asked for more clarification time. Buzz is about public participation. When 4 residents of note ask for more time they should get it, after all this has been 10 years in discussion and things have changed over time.  

Cruzio (a partnership with the old Coastside.net) needs to spend down a $5.65M CPUC grant which will provide faster internet to the San Mateo County Coastside…US!  If you want some they are reaching out to help residents, businesses and public agencies so give them a call if you want gigabyte internet to peruse say Coastside Buzz!! The California Coastal Commission approved the emergency development permit for the Surfers’ Beach recreational trail, stairway and revetment replacements. There is night time traffic control until completed.

The Ocean Protection Council’s investment for Spring 2024’s Pop-up Fishing Gear Experiment in the Dungeness Crab Fishery has been deemed successful with 19 Fishers participating, 229K pounds of crab and $1.6M harvest value. Stay tuned as this was gleaned from a public comment snippet asking to be agendized for a full presentation on this experiment in December.

There is a local job at Half Moon Bay’s Senior Coastsiders for Case Management Services for older adults.

And Green Foothills is hiring a Policy and Advocacy Associate Manager with a focus on San Mateo County’s Coastside. This job is mostly remote. There is actually a Green Foothills event at the Oceano this weekend if you want to get to know them. Check the calendar for details.

Know where your poop goes???  The Sewer Authority approved Global Diving’s change order for repair to their offshore outfall diffusers that are now under deeper sand. The diffusers disperse sewer water after it has been treated and de-chlorinated 1,900 feet offshore, 37 feet deep.
