HMB City Manager, Bob Nisbet, (also a bike rider) explains that City Staff reached out to Caltrans three weeks ago. Caltrans said this bridge is rated high for intervention. City Staff is following up.

The second video documents John’s ride.

  1. Wow Michelle, your journalism is awesome! I used to take that route, but was confronted with a fellow demanding a $5 “toll” for me to pass under the bridge. I accelerated & whizzed by, but afterwards chose alternate routes, even though this is one of two instances fulfilling my ideal of a pedestrian/cycling underpass every 1000 feet from north to south under highway 1. The other being the twin bores, 5′ in diameter, for Medio Creek, which serve as a de-facto underpass for some. Coastside Buzz is the absolute best by light years source of local information.
