PRESS RELEASE. The Recovery Task Force (part of the Coastside Recovery Initiative) had a glimpse of the next economy and future possibilities after touring The Mushroom Farm, formerly the Campbell Soup’s mushroom production facility, in Pescadero. The team learned about innovative approaches to the regenerative agriculture movement, renewable energy, and sustainable practices to modernize farming. Regenerative agriculture refers to farming practices which sequester carbon, support biodiversity, provide habitat for insect and animal allies, improve soil structure, and increase water retention. Many farms are now at their greatest transition point, and one of the possibilities the Coastside Recovery Initiative is assessing is how to help farms access the capital and grants needed to position their lands and workforce for the future. Many thanks to our hosts for the educational tour and their hospitality.

The Mushroom Farm

Inspired by the land, rooted in purpose and designed to share.

Development

The Mushroom Farm features 250,000+ sq ft of indoor agriculture and mixed-use space, a state of the art facility built by Campbell Soup that once produced 2.5 million pounds of mushrooms per month. This is a dream renovation project that combines indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse spaces. With 150+ acres available for outdoor agriculture and 140,000+ sq ft of planned greenhouse space, we have a significant opportunity to restore this property into a hub for regenerative agriculture, closed-loop indoor agriculture, and resilience technologies.

We are transforming The Mushroom Farm into the F.A.R.M. – Future Agriculture & Regenerative Movements.

The F.A.R.M. is an incubator for technological, ecological, and agricultural solutions to the challenges we face in food security. Our solution is a replicable and adaptable agricultural park that can serve as a model for communities anywhere.

The Plan

The development plan is to renovate the historic facility, building a FARM microgrid that integrates hybrid renewable energy systems with indoor AgTech farming methods. Indoor warehouse and greenhouse space is being leased to agricultural tenants, that will benefit from facility deficiencies that drive lower cost of production and promote year-round cultivation. Harnessing solar and wind technologies increases efficiency, and provides secure access to energy.

Innovative closed loop systems maximize productivity from waste streams and create cross-enterprise synergies within the facility.

We are co-creating the F.A.R.M. with you and are interested in tenants working at all levels of the agricultural value-chain.

We have 8 grow houses with 96 grow rooms available. This is an overview on Grow House 1.

Partnership Opportunities

Our team is renovating this state of the art agricultural production facility into a thriving circular facility. We are welcoming aligned tenants, advisors, technological partners, and investors to step into this opportunity with us.

Tenants – Opportunities for leasing indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse spaces.

Investment – We are inviting inquiries for capital investment opportunities into the land and operating entity.
