Dear Friends:

On May 27th we brought a panel together to discuss the current and future outlook for water in our region, the steps being taken to respond to the drought, and recent innovations in water technology.

Once again the strength and resilience of our community is being put to the test as we face increasingly dire drought conditions.  Over the past decade, California has experienced the most severe drought in more than 1,200 years.  Summer has barely begun, but here in the Bay Area we are facing near-record dryness and extreme drought.

With precipitation for this year at 59% of average and unprecedented low water levels, water is becoming increasingly scarce.

But, we are working quickly to respond.  In addition, efforts are underway across California to meet this challenge and build a resilient future.  We look forward to an informative event and to answering your questions during the discussion.

A Panel Discussion:

“Water, Water, Nowhere – Innovation, Resiliency & the Drought”

Joining me for this Panel Discussion will be:

  • Dr. Newsha Ajami, Director of Urban Water Policy, Stanford’s Water in the West Program
  • Gary Kremen, Vice Chair Board of Directors, Santa Clara Valley Water District
  • Scott Bryan, President, Imagine H2O
  • Felicia Marcus, Former Chair, State Water Resources Control Board, and fellow at Stanford’s Water in the West Program

Sincerely,

Josh Becker
State Senator, 13th District
