ENERGY RESILIENCY PROGRAMS

This page is intended to connect Half Moon Bay community members to resources that are designed to build energy resilience in the community in the event of a power outage (e.g. PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events). While the City of Half Moon Bay does not currently administer any storage resiliency programs, we strongly advise our residents to take advantage of these opportunity to better prepare themselves for the next power outage.

Power On Peninsula Medical

Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) is partnering with Senior Coastsiders and other community organizations to reach out to residents with medical devices in areas likely to be impacted by fire season power shutoffs and enroll them for resources including utility discounts, free or low-cost backup batteries, and the Center for Independence’s emergency support.

  • Targeted Audience: San Mateo County residents dependent on electricity for medical needs (e.g. medical devices such as CPAPs or refrigerated medicines) AND who live in high fire threat zones or have been impacted by two or more Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events
  • Services Offered: Donation of portable backup batteries for renters, or low or no-cost solar and battery installations for homeowners including easy up-front access to the Self Generation Incentive Program incentives.
  • How to Enroll: Fill out form at https://www.peninsulacleanenergy.com/pop-medical/ or contact Senior Coastsiders
  • Phone Number: (650) 726-9056 (Senior Coastsiders)
  • E-mail: [email protected]

Disability Disaster Access and Resources Program

The Center for Independence of Individuals with Disabilities (“CID”) in collaboration with the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers is partnered with PG&E to keep our clients and communities safe and prepared during a Public Safety Power Shut Off (“PSPS”). If you or someone you know has a disability or additional functional needs and who are dependent on electrical equipment, CID can help you through the Disability Disaster Access Program. To determine eligibility for backup batteries and other resources, click on the link just below and complete the application.

Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP)

PG&E is partnering with energy providers throughout the State to provide financial incentives for the installation of battery storage and self-generation equipment. This program emphasis varies based on whether the customer is a residential customer or a non-residential customer.
