How will it affect our rates?
Diversion rates are changing and there is a change of materials, over last 10-15 years.
- iPad eliminated, for all intents and purposes, newspaper from recycling stream.
- Design of materials/ packaging like Campbell soup cans used to have a market to sell to in Asia. Now, soups packed in tetra packs can’t be recovered. Single use plastic and packaging is making things harder.
- China 40% of recycle for the world. Mixed paper down 95 % but 30-40% is being recover from Allied customers.
- Commodity pricing on mixed paper 80-90% down and 70% down for cardboard.
