VIDEO/ ARTICLE/ PHOTOS. I was riding along on my morning commute and I see some orange netting and stakes outlining a new building at the Jetty (Surfers’Beach).

Later in the morning, I received my weekly City of Half Moon Bay weekly email and…

….Restroom at Pillar Point RV Park  ~ The City of Half Moon Bay’s Planning Commission conducted a Study Session Tues. Jan. 8th, 7pm at the Emergency Operations Center, 537 Kelly, HMB regarding the location and design alternatives for a proposed public restroom at the Pillar Point RV Park site, near Surfer’s Beach (The Jetty). The owner / applicant for this project is the San Mateo County Harbor District. Keet Nerhan, KN Properties, is the owner of the RV Park, and the Oceano Hotel and Mall, and many gas stations in town. Nerhan has a lease with the Harbor District for the RV Park. He does not own the land.

It was discovered last year that Nerhan has no Coastal Development Permit from the California Coastal Commission, or from the City of Half Moon Bay for the RV Park’s 1998 remodel. Then, Nerhan missed a series of deadlines set by Half Moon Bay’s city staff over the course of 2017. Nerhan has yet to apply for the permit. A new deadline has since been set for early in the new year.

Without a bathroom at this location, beachgoers have a long walk in order to reach the next nearest public facilities at a Miramar trailhead to the south or closer to boat docks in the harbor to the north.
