PRESS RELEASE. From San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus Nextdoor. announces new Coastside Patrol Bureau Captain.
San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus is proud to announce that she’s selected Captain Richard Cheechov to oversee the Coastside Patrol Bureau and serve as the Chief of Police Services for the City of Half Moon Bay effective immediately.
Captain Cheechov is a dedicated public servant and law enforcement leader with extensive experience serving the coast. In order to ensure a smooth transition for our coastside communities, Captain Cheechov has been overseeing the patrol bureau’s operations for the last couple weeks.
“Captain Cheechov is no stranger to the coast. His deep roots, knowledge and experience serving our coastside communities is evidenced by multiple high-profile arrests that have taken place on the coast just over the last couple weeks,” said Sheriff Corpus. “I can think of no one better than Captain Cheechov for this role and I know our communities will greatly benefit from his leadership and commitment. During his 24-year career as a law enforcement officer, Captain Cheechov has served a wide variety of roles including serving on the Major Accident Investigations Team, Motorcycle Unit and more. He oversaw the Sheriff’s Office Training Unit for a number of years, and most recently, he was assigned to the Maple Street Correctional Center where he implemented and oversaw impactful programs for incarcerated persons.
In addition to his experience, Captain Cheechov is a strong listener and will focus on the community’s needs. His number one priority will be to enhance community safety.
