The harbor district applied for a NOAA grant earlier this year, but did not get it. General Manager, Jim Pruett, says “Because the vessel in on the coast, and outside the marine sanctuary, it is low priority for granting agencies. The vessel will remain in place until grant funding is identified.”

This grant has been submitted to the BOAT US Abandoned and Derelict Vessel (ADV) Removal Grant.

The BoatUS Foundation has been awarded a $10 million grant from NOAA’s Marine Debris Program to administer a national competitive grant program for removal of abandoned and derelict vessels (ADVs). The project components also include the development of a national database to track abandoned and derelict vessels, outreach and education on the topics of ADVs and a national conference on current and potential sustainable disposals solutions for marine related waste streams.

BoatUS Foundation is excited to get started on this groundbreaking project. This is a new process for both BoatUS Foundation and the NOAA Marine Debris Program. We are working diligently to complete all components of the program. Use the buttons below to learn more about the program.
