PRESS RELEASE. From the San Mateo County Supervisor’s Office on April 26th, 2022.
Residents will continue to have option for Zoom participation
Redwood City — Beginning May 3, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will welcome the public back to its chambers in a limited capacity while still accommodating participation virtually.
This way, residents are given a choice that works best for both their schedule and individual health concerns. The in-person meeting will mark the first time any County supervisors have met in Board Chambers since going fully virtual in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some supervisors will still join remotely.
Board President Don Horsley said the choice model will be assessed before determining if meetings will continue to combine in-person and virtual attendance for the foreseeable future. Other public County meetings are expected to resume in-person soon, too.
“I’m so looking forward to seeing my Board colleagues in person during meetings again as well as our residents. Virtual meetings were a huge help during the pandemic and allowed us to maintain government functions as normally as possible,” Horsley said. “But there’s nothing like hearing from our community face-to-face.”
Seats inside the meeting room in 400 County Center will be spaced to still accommodate social distancing. Attendees can also watch the meetings on screens in the lobby outside of Board chambers.
Those still wishing to join remotely can join live meetings via Zoom through the link on the posted agenda. Public comment can be given live during the appropriate time during the meeting or submitted in writing to [email protected] Spanish interpretation will be available both in person and virtually.
Visitors to Board Chambers will not be required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status as the County has lifted its indoor mask mandate. However, masks are still highly encouraged to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
