Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

PRESS RELEASE.  Starting Thursday, February 25th, 2021.

From Rita Mancera, Executive Director of Puente

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing very well.

Here is an update on the vaccine clinics for the South Coast.

First of all, if you, like me, feel that information is being updated rapidly, you are correct! There are a lot of updates, all of them very good, I think, and I just want to thank everyone for being so patient with these changes.

Here is a list of the vaccine efforts for our region and information of what Puente and San Mateo County staff are doing to bring this to you and your employees in an efficient and organized matter.

  • THURSDAY Mobile Shots-to-Farms Clinics. This week Thursday February 25 and Friday February 26, San Mateo County and Puente will be collaborating to bring vaccines to the farms.
    • The timeframe will be between 10:00 am and 6 pm
    • The county has allocated 300 vaccines for these mobile clinics.
    • Ophelie Vico, Puente’s Community Health Specialist, is reaching out to the largest farms to schedule the clinics on their sites. Please be flexible with us on the scheduling and the timing between these two days. We are really doing the best we can to accommodate as many people as possible.
    • We are asking these farms to send us the list of employees and other information needed for registration. Ophelie will share the excel template with you.
    • These clinics are only for farmworkers and not their families.
    • Ophelie Vico will be reaching out directly to you all to complete a schedule for Thursday and Friday.
    • For any questions about the clinics please contact Ophelie Vico at [email protected] or at 650-262-5989. E-mail is definitely better as we have a high volume of calls as you can imagine.

  • FRIDAY Agriculture Employee Clinics at Pescadero. As planned, Puente and the SMC Street and Field Medicine team will run four clinics starting Friday February 26.
    • Location at Pescadero Elementary School. Time from 4 to 8 pm.
    • Puente health team will be calling smaller farms to schedule their employees for Friday
    • The county has allocated at least 40 vaccines for each of the four clinics.
    • For the first Friday Clinic on February 26 we will focus on agriculture industry employees.
    • Food workers and people 65+ will be included in the three following Friday clinics: 3/5, 3/12 and 3/19.
    • For the first clinic on Friday February 26, Puente staff will be calling to prioritize farmworkers. For the additional 3 clinics, people can call 650-879-1691 to schedule an appointment.
    • Best time to call for a vaccine appointment is Monday to Friday from 11am to 2pm and from 4pm to 6pm.

  • THURSDAY Ag. and food workers and 65+  Walk-Up Clinic on March 4th, 2021
    • Time TBD
    • Location at Pescadero High School.
    • This clinic will be available for agriculture industry workers, food workers and people 65+.
    • To make an appointment, people can call 650-879-1691.
    • Number of vaccines will depend on people registered but the county has allocated up to 300 doses.
    • Best time to call for a vaccine appointment is Monday to Friday from 11am to 2pm and from 4pm to 6pm.

  • HMB Clinic. There will be a clinic as well in HMB at Our Lady of the Pillar where another 600 vaccines will be administered on Fridays.

Thanks again to the county many different departments and for all their efforts to get vaccines to our rural community and to the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District for always supporting with their sites.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.

There are a number of vaccine opportunities for Food & Ag workers opening up this week and ongoing. In addition to vaccine events happening in Half Moon Bay and Pescadero, starting Thursday, February 25 the County of San Mateo will be hosting a free COVID-19 vaccination event for food and agricultural workers at the Event Center. See attached flier.

Please note, to register, it’s necessary to sign up at smchealth.org/vaccinesignup ASAP and indicate they work in Food/Ag. They will receive a call to register if/when there’s space available. If they need help, they can contact [email protected]. We recognize this isn’t the best/easiest way for everyone but wanted to be sure you knew about this opportunity.
