“In a few conversations today it seems there maybe a caveat to what I had understood to be fact – the land/street in front of the left gate is public and then land behind the gate public but the foot or so of land and the gate might be private – seriously, not kidding.
Looking into it but does appear that this could be the case.
Reminds me of the situation at that beach south of HMB where the wealthy owner decides that because he has the house no-one can access the public beach.
It seems like that is what is happening here – a new owner took control of the property through inheritance and this is what he is doing.
Apparently he had a meeting recently with POST and this is the outcome. Similar to the beach, if there is interested Im sure it can be resolved in a way that supports the local community access to public land we pay for. If others are interested, happy to look into options.
Haven’t heard back from county yet but will share what I hear.”
