PRESS RELEASE. From the San Mateo County Park Department on June 18th, 2025.
Completion of Don Horsley County Park at Tunitas Creek Beach is delayed due to landslides near the beach emergency access route that must be remediated before the park can safely open. As a result, the park’s completion date has been revised, with the new expected opening set for summer 2026.
Despite this setback, work continues in areas not impacted by the slides and significant progress has been made with the construction of key visitor facilities, including:
- Ranger station
- Restroom
- Amphitheater
- Park kiosk and signs
- Parking lot gates
- ADA accessible path to the mid-bluff area
San Mateo County and our project partners understand the anticipation surrounding the opening of Don Horsley County Park and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this setback. Our commitment remains to provide a safe, beautiful space for all visitors to enjoy once these critical safety measures are addressed and construction is completed.
