Lisa Ketcham, in nature, her favorite place.

LETTER. From the Midcoast Community Council meeting on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025.

Whispers From a Giant, My 12 Months with Lisa Ketcham from Kevin Sniecinski

Letter from Ed Larenas, ex-San Mateo County District Harbor Commissioner.

Lisa Ketchum was an unsung hero of our midcoast.
She was passionate, fair, relentless, fearless, dedicated, kind.
She was my mentor, teacher and friend
She was my go-to person for information on local issues.

She often had what I was looking for in the form of a report complete with history, aerial photos, diagrams, links to other sources of information and detailed comments.

I often relied on my conversations with her to sort out my thinking on a particular issue.  She had the uncanny ability to see key points that I had missed. Her counsel was invaluable.

When she joined the MCC in 2011 she focused her skilled research ability and disciplined thinking to the issues that confronted the MCC.  She shared her work in the form of detailed reports, presentations, and summaries. And she made sure that they were all made available to anyone who needed them.  Towards that end she developed and managed the MCC website.  Those of you who have used the website she created know how easy it is to navigate. You get the feeling that it wants you to find what you are looking for!

I am hopeful that the San Mateo County and the MCC have the intention to archive her work in such a way that it is accessible to all who which to use it.  It would be a fitting legacy for Lisa.
