City Manager Updates from January 19, 2021 City Council Meeting

The Council took the actions listed below at its January 19, 2021 meeting with follow‐up by staff shown in parentheses:

  1. Accepted the warrants list for the month of December 2020 (Finance)
  2. Continued to the March 2, 2021 City Council meeting – a resolution authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Friends of Half Moon Bay Parks and Recreation, to better define and govern the relationship between the City and the Friends and advance the organizations’ shared missions to improve and increase recreational opportunities in the community (Administration)
  3. By motion, authorized the Mayor to sign and submit a letter of response to the October 28, 2020 Grand Jury Report titled “Second Units: Adding New Housing in The Neighborhoods” no later than January 26, 2021 (City Clerk)
  4. Adopted a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with National Demographics Corporation for assistance with the transition to district- based elections at an amount not to exceed $45,000 (City Clerk)
  5. Adopted a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Townsend Public Affairs, Inc., to provide grant writing and advocacy services for a period of one year at an amount of $60,000 (City Clerk)
  6. Accepted Mayor Brownstone’s List of City Council Representatives and Designated Assignments for 2021, as amended (City Clerk)
  7. Made appointments to the Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission as follows:

8. Received an update on efforts to assist local businesses and the Coastside community in recovery from COVID-19 and in developing recommendations toward a more equitable, vibrant, and resilient Coastside economy and workforce (Administration)

  4. Adoptó una resolución que autoriza al Administrador de la Ciudad a ejecutar un acuerdo con la Corporación Nacional de Demografía para recibir asistencia con la transición a las elecciones distritales por una cantidad que no exceda los $ 45,000 (Secretario de la Ciudad)
  5. Adoptó una resolución que autoriza al administrador de la ciudad a entrar en un acuerdo con Townsend Public Affairs, Inc., para proporcionar servicios de redacción y defensa de subvenciones por un período de un año por un monto de $ 60,000 (secretario de la ciudad)

The City Council of Half Moon Bay

The City Council of Half Moon Bay is the City’s governing body, and consists of five elected members. The Council sets priorities and policies, makes final decisions on all major City matters, adopts ordinances and resolutions, appoints the City Manager and City Attorney, and approves the annual budget.

City Council members are elected at-large to four-year, overlapping terms. There are no term limits in Half Moon Bay. The City Council selects one of its members to serve as Mayor and one to serve as Vice Mayor, on an annual basis.

The Half Moon Bay City Council typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month starting at 7 pm at the Ted Adcock Community Center, 535 Kelly Avenue.

Capital Improvement Program

The City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) addresses the community’s needs for planned infrastructure improvements over a rolling five-year period. The CIP is intended to respond to the identified needs of the community, to ensure major infrastructure – such as streets, parks, trails, public facilities, sewers, and drainage – are well-maintained for maximum safety, public use, and enjoyment. Click here to download the Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2019-20 to 2023-24.
