PRESS RELEASE. From San Mateo County Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve’s parking area and trailhead near Half Moon Bay, located at Higgins Canyon and Purisima Creek Roads, has reopened. Thank you for your patience while the County of San Mateo finished storm damage repair work to the adjacent county road. Parking is extremely limited at this reopened location. Two additional parking areas provide access to Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve from Skyline Boulevard/Highway 35. Find the details at openspace.org/Purisima-Creek-Redwoods. Multiple efforts are underway to improve sustainable public access to Purisima Creek Redwoods, which is one of Midpen’s most beloved and visited open space preserves. |

About damn time. There was no good reason for the parking/trailhead to be closed, as the repair work on Higgins that was used as an excuse had no impact on and was not impacted by the trailhead. I confronted the MROSD people at the recent Pescadero festival about the closure, and they had no reasonable answer, saying something like “The county wants it closed.”
