Half Moon Bay History Museum Receives $50k Measure K Grant for Solar Panels and Lighting System

GRANT. From the March 23rd, 2021 San Mateo County Supervisors meeting; grant approved 5-0. Our Supervisor, Don Horsley, brought the opportunity to the board.

Measure K: Recommendation to: A) Adopt a resolution authorizing a one-time grant to the Half Moon Bay History Association for the construction of a historical museum in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for solar panels and lighting system.

San Mateo County Supervisors 5-0 Resolution

 

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, Measure K is the half-cent general sales tax initially approved by San Mateo County voters in November 2012, and extended in November 2016 for a total of thirty years; and

WHEREAS, the Half Moon Bay History Association (HMBHA) is working to create a history museum to recognize the contributions of all those who have lived and worked on the San Mateo County coast around Half Moon Bay, an area known as the “Coastside”; and

WHEREAS, HMBHA has the opportunity to convert a historic structure in town into a thoughtful, dynamic museum; and

WHEREAS, Measure K funds will pay for the construction of solar panels and the lighting system for the new museum; and

WHEREAS, it is the Board’s intent for the County Manager, or designee, to execute an agreement in the amount of $50,000 to Half Moon Bay History Association for construction of the solar panels and lighting system; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of said agreement and has examined it and approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into the agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors hereby authorizes the County Manager or designee to execute an agreement with the Half Moon Bay History Association for the solar panels and lighting system of the new historical museum in a total amount not to exceed $50,000.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Manager or designee is authorized to execute amendments to the agreement which modify the County’s maximum fiscal obligation by no more than ten percent (10%) or $25,000 (in aggregate), whichever is less, and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
