The San Mateo County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program and the City of Half Moon Bay are hosting a drop-off event in Half Moon Bay on Saturday, June 28, 2025, 8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Accepted items include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning products
- Pesticides
- Rodenticides
- Garden chemicals
- Fluorescent lights (compact and tubes)
- Aerosol cans
- Paint
- Varnish
- Solvents
- Paint thinner
- Automotive supplies
- Flammable liquids
No electronic, radioactive, explosive, or medical waste is accepted. This event is open to all who live in San Mateo County.
You must schedule an appointment to participate.
Visit the County’s appointment web page here  or call (650) 372-6200 to schedule your time for HHW drop off. The event location is disclosed once your appointment is confirmed.
There is a limit 10 gallons or 50 pounds per appointment (per carload). If you have over 10 gallons, you will need to schedule an appointment for each 10 gallons of waste and make separate vehicle trips. No commercial waste allowed.
Residents unable to attend this event can still dispose of household hazardous waste for free at San Mateo County’s permanent HHW facility on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (except major holiday weekends).
