On Saturday June 7, 2025, at Pillar Point Harbor the Coastside Fishing Club will be taking the delivery of 250,000 salmon smolt (baby salmon) from the Mokelumne River Hatchery.

The smolt will be delivered into a pen where the baby salmon assimilate to saltwater prior to release seven days later.

With this delivery, over 750,000 baby salmon have been delivered to Pillar Point Harbor this year alone.

Over the past 14 years, the Coastside Fishing Club has released over 8.5 million smolt in Pillar Point Harbor.

 

Harbor Board of Commissioners Special Meeting – Salmon Smolt Release at Pillar Point Harbor 

Receive brief on and discuss the salmon smolt release at Pillar Point and how it relates to the support provided by the San Mateo County Harbor District to the California recreational and commercial salmon runs.

The Public may directly address the Board of Harbor Commissioners for a limit of two (2) minutes, unless a request is granted for more time, on any item of public interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the San Mateo County Harbor District, that is not on the Regular Agenda.

If a member of the public wishes to address the Board on an agenda item, it is requested that the member of the public wait until the item is in discussion before following the instructions provided on making a public comment. The Chair will call your name at the appropriate time.
