Could Extracting Water from Fog with a Tsunami Water Generator Solve Pescadero School’s Lack of Water?

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

NEW OLD IDEA. “At Tsunami Products, we design and build machines that extract water from humidity in the air ā€” efficiently and economically.”

How might this technology help us on the Coastside?

Pescadero Schools have no potable water. Right now student drink water from plastic bottles. How can that be in 2022?

Their County Service Area No. 11 (CSA 11) water system serves 90 residents, but not the schools. Tsunami products are designed for solar power and Pescadero would have space for that. Only $30k for the Tsunami-500 (not including solar panels) to produce 8 gallons per hour.

1. Air Intake

Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs) extract water from humidity in theĀ air. Moist ambient air is pulled into the TsunamiĀ®Ā unit by fans. A multi-layerĀ airĀ filter removes dust, pollen, and other airborne particles.

2. Water Extraction

Next, the air is drawn through aĀ series of condensing coils, where water vapor is cooled down sufficiently to reach theĀ dew point. ThisĀ converts water vapor into droplets. Additionally, all TsunamiĀ®Ā units use Tsunami Core Technologyā„¢Ā ā€” aĀ special patented extraction chamber with aĀ range of features that force water condensationĀ ā€” resulting in greater output.Ā Water is then extracted and collected into aĀ storage tank.

Tsunami Core Technologyā„¢ and otherĀ proprietary improvementsĀ dramaticallyĀ enhance theĀ process of water extraction, allowing TsunamiĀ®Ā units to achieve great energy efficiency.

3. Water Filtration

The collected water is purified through aĀ multi-stage filtration system, where all theĀ possible impurities and pathogens are removed. At this point,Ā water is completely pureĀ and safe to drink. Whatā€™s more: unlike tap water, itā€™s chemical-free.

Tsunami-500

Medium-scale atmospheric water generator. The Tsunami-500 model, which stands about 7 1/2 feet and spans 3 1/2 feet wide and thick, is priced atĀ roughly $30,000.

The unit is perfect for homes, offices, schools, hospitals, gymnasiums, cafƩs and restaurants, hotels and resorts, as well as other facilities.

Tsunami-500 delivers water right to your own storage reservoir, fridge and/or integrated ice-maker, on-sink dispenser, or another dispenser of your choice.

Water production rate:
0.5 – 7.8 gallons per hour

Physical dimensions: 42″Ā xĀ 42″Ā xĀ 98″ / 1Ā xĀ 1Ā xĀ 2.5Ā mĀ (WĀ xĀ LĀ xĀ H)

Power source: Power Grid (Single phase) / Solar system (8000Ā watts).

Power consumption: 5.8-7.5Ā Kilowatts perĀ hourĀ ā€” it varies dependingĀ on ambient conditions (airĀ temperature and relativeĀ humidity).

Operating conditions: temperature 60-100Ā°F, relative humidity 50-90%. The unit produces water as long as the dew point is above 50Ā°F. The higher the dew point, the more water production can be expected.
