PRESS RELEASE and NOTIFICATION LETTER. From San Mateo County Public Works on Monday, March 4th, 2024.

 

Southbound Closure Starts 3/6/2024

Recent storm events with high surf have caused significant damage to the western edge of Mirada Road between Medio Avenue and Magellan Avenue in Miramar. As a result, the County’s Department of Public Works will be closing the southbound lane of Mirada Road to all traffic between Magellan Avenue and Medio Avenue on March 6, 2024.

 

March 7, 2024 – Mirada Rd southbound lane closure is in effect. As noted in the Notification letter (dated February 27, 2024), the Department will evaluate traffic and circulation impacts on Magellan Ave and may make additional modifications, which could include one-way eastbound-only traffic on Magellan Ave.

 

San Mateo County Public Works meeting on April 2nd, 2024 at Supervisor Mueller’s Office

Supervisor Ray Mueller will be hosting a community meeting on APRIL 2, 2024, to provide an opportunity for residents to learn more and ask questions about Mirada Road. The meeting will be at 6:00 p.m. at Supervisor Mueller’s Coastside Office, Shoppes at Harbor Village, 270 Capistrano Road, Unit 6, Half Moon Bay.

March 6, 2024 – Recent storm events and wave actions have caused significant damage to the western edge of Mirada Road between Medio Avenue and Magellan Avenue. Accordingly, the Department will be closing the southbound lane of Mirada Road to all traffic between Magellan Avenue and Medio Avenue on March 6, 2024 (weather permitting).

 

April 2, 2024 – Supervisor Mueller will be hosting a Community Meeting to provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about Mirada Road and to have an opportunity to ask questions of County staff regarding the changes to Mirada Road. The meeting will be at 6:00pm at Supervisor Mueller’s Coastside Office located at the Shoppes at Harbor Village, 270 Capistrano Road, Unit 6, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019.

  1. Public works should be able to snap their fingers and magically have the ocean move back. Come on people they are not magicians this is what happens to roads that are right against the ocean. Their hands are probably tied by the worthless coastal commission and ridiculous red tape. Face it, the ocean is an unstoppable force and when you choose to be right next to it with your house or business you have to deal with Mother Nature. I think expectations are a little high from the crybaby’s complaining.
