Join the Pacific Land Trust Stewardship Volunteers on 6-22-25 from 10:00 am to 1:00pm at Pedro Point Headlands as we cut back vegetation encroaching onto a portion of the Arroyo Trail.
Pacifica Land Trust (PLT) Steward Volunteers are pleasantly surprised by how good they feel, both physically and mentally, after spending the day working with great people in a beautiful setting on such worthwhile land stewardship and trail projects.
Meet at the PPH trailhead, the location on the map below. This is where volunteers sign in, receive orientation and gather tools for the trail and land stewardship projects..
Vegetation is choking the path on the narrow gauge Arroyo Trail. We will be cutting back the vegetation to open the path. See the picture below of volunteers recently clearing a trail at PPH. Steve and Zac will lead us as we take the “ankle express” from the trailhead to the job site on the Arroyo Trail. On the way, Steve will share information on the flora and fauna we encounter. Zac, Sam and Steve have been enjoying the June wildflower species in bloom, “Ma Nature’s” color pallet of beauty.
Projects will be performed in a variety of weather conditions, including light rain and in areas where poison oak, blackberry thorns and ticks may occur. Be prepared and take appropriate precautions:
- Dress in layers and wear closed toe shoes, long pants, long sleeve shirts
- Bring: a backpack, water, snacks, gloves, insect repellent and sunscreen
- Tools, gloves, and extra water will be provided
- Bathrooms are not available at PPH but are at the Upper Devil’s Slide Parking Lot
- Everyone practice social distancing
Volunteers under 18 years of age need written permission from a parent or guardian, and an adult must accompany those under 16.
We hope to keep the fourth Sunday of the month, as our volunteers’ workday for the coming months (excluding December). Monthly notices are emailed 1 week prior to the workday. A list of the
2024 PLT Stewardship Project dates are posted at:

Access Pedro Point Headlands one of three ways:
- By the informal trail (Future Coastal Trail) leaving from Ace Hardware about 1 mile hike in. (There are more parking spaces here than at Upper Devils Slide).
- By parking at the North Devil’s Slide parking lot (about 12 spaces) north of the tunnels. Then walking 1/4 mile north up the PPH access trail near the bus stop at the entrance to the NDS parking lot.
- Through the “green vehicle gate” just 550′ north of the North Devil’s Slide parking lot entrance and driving up a short hill to the meeting area at the main trailhead (see attached map).
Hope you can join us!
