Following the planned conclusion of the Pilot Urgent Care Program, funded by San Mateo County, Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia remains firmly committed to providing quality, accessible health care to coastal residents.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Half Moon Bay, Calif. — Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia is pleased to announce that walk-in and same-day care will remain available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. This continuation of service follows the planned conclusion of the Urgent Care Pilot Program, funded by the County of San Mateo on May 31, 2025.  Dignity Health in Half Moon Bay webpage.

Providing the same level of care for low-severity urgent medical issues as during the pilot program, the clinic treats adults and children aged 14 and older.

Patients can receive walk-in or same-day care, either through virtual appointments or in-person visits, for a wide range of non-life-threatening medical conditions.

Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia accepts most health plans including PPO plans, Medicare and Health Plan of San Mateo. Patients with out-of-network coverage, or without health insurance will have the option to pay out-of-pocket for services.

Health Plan of San Mateo members can receive assistance being assigned to a Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia provider by calling (650) 726-1200. This will allow continued care without disruption.

For emergencies, coastal residents should dial 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency department. This includes: 

  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • New onset weakness (stroke symptoms)
  • Serious injuries

Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia’s primary care clinic in Half Moon Bay is located at 799 Main St Ste D. Entry to the parking lot is via Monte Vista Lane.

Q: Who will the clinic serve? 
Our clinic will continue to see established patients of Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia, including adults and children over 14 years of age. This includes patients with PPO plans, Medicare, and Health Plan of San Mateo.

Q: What is not changing when the pilot program ends on May 31, 2025?
We will continue to offer walk-in, and same-day virtual appointments for patients assigned to a Dignity Health Medical Group — Sequoia primary care provider. These services will be in addition to our existing primary care services.

While the pilot program is ending, Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia remains firmly committed to providing quality, accessible health care to coastal residents.

Q: Will the hours change?
Yes. Starting June 1, following the conclusion of the pilot program, we will offer: 
Walk-in and virtual appointments: Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
We are working diligently to permanently expand our same-day and walk-in appointment offerings and hours as a result of what we learned during the pilot program. 

A key part of this is recruiting an additional primary care provider. We anticipate being able to offer extended hours later this year. We will keep you updated on our progress. 

Q: What health plans will be accepted?
Beginning June 1, 2025, we will continue to accept most health plans. Patients with out-of-network coverage, or without health insurance will have the option to pay out-of-pocket for services.

Patients without insurance can contact the Health Coverage Unit at San Mateo County Health who can help determine if they are eligible for available health coverage programs:

  • Monday-Wednesday, and Friday: 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m., and Thursday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We will continue to accept Health Plan of San Mateo.

  • Our team is available to assist Health Plan of San Mateo members who need to be assigned to a Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia primary care provider. This will allow us to continue providing care without disruption.

Q: What conditions can be treated via a walk-in or same-day appointment?
The clinic will continue to treat a wide range of non-life threatening medical issues, including: 

  • Ear and eye infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Sprains and muscle strains
  • Cold, flu, and other respiratory illnesses
  • Sinus infections
  • Allergies and asthma (non life-threatening)
  • Minor cuts and burns
  • Skin conditions such as rashes and insect bites
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and mild abdominal pain
  • Mild fever
  • Vaginal discharge or irritation
  • STI and pregnancy testing
  • Vaccinations and flu shots
  • Additional conditions with similar severity

Dignity Health Medical Group – Sequoia also offers physical examinations for school and employment. Please note, our Half Moon Bay clinic does not offer physical examination for Department of Transportation commercial licensing.  

Q: What conditions are appropriate for a virtual visit?

  • Mild UTI symptoms
  • Mild COVID-19 symptoms
  • Hypertension follow-up
  • Diabetes management
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Minor rashes
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Medication refills/adjustments
  • Routine follow-ups for chronic conditions
  • Review of lab, radiology or pathology reports

Q: What are the plans for expanding same-day care?
We are actively working to expand our services, including recruiting an additional primary care provider. This will allow us to  offer a broad-spectrum of primary and low-severity urgent care services, as well as extended operating hours. 

We anticipate being able to offer extended hours and increased availability later this year. We will keep you updated on our progress.
