Half Moon Bay, California 94019
The City of Half Moon Bay is now accepting applications for the spring 2025 session of its annual community engagement program, Half Moon Bay NET (Network – Engage – Transform). This four-session community academy is designed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of how the City operates, while fostering stronger connections between residents, City staff, and elected officials.
Applications are due by Friday, April 25, 2025
Through NET, participants will learn how decisions are made, how City funds are allocated, how departments work together to deliver services, and what challenges and opportunities the City faces in the years ahead. The goal of the program is to strengthen civic engagement, improve communication between the City and community members, and encourage a deeper connection to local government.
The NET program will take place on Thursday evenings
May 1, May 8, May 15, and May 22
from 6:00 to 9:00pm
Participants are encouraged to commit to attending all four sessions in order to gain the most benefit from the program. If you are not able to commit to all four sessions, please apply for a future NET program that better meets your schedule.
Each session will explore a different area of City operations through hands-on activities, interactive discussions, and presentations from City leaders. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and speak with staff and City Councilmembers, ask questions, and build relationships with fellow community members who are interested in becoming more engaged with the City.
The program is free to attend and open to anyone who lives or works in Half Moon Bay. Enrollment is limited to 25 participants, who will be randomly selected from all applications. To ensure new voices can participate, individuals who have previously completed the program are asked not to apply.
It’s a great opportunity to get an “insider’s” view of the City, become more knowledgeable about how the City works, and help to build and strengthen the communication, bonds, and relationships that make a great community.
The objectives of NET are to involve and engage people in learning about and understanding the operation of City government, and to improve communication between the City and those who live and work here. Participants will learn about how decisions are made, how City funds are allocated, and how City departments operate with each other, and get an opportunity to sit down with City Council members for frank discussions of issues, projects, politics, and plans for shaping the future of our community.
Applications are due by Friday, April 25, 2025
