Half Moon Bay, California 94019
Las Pulgas Big Band is an 18 piece jazz orchestra, often adding female and male vocalists, which plays danceable and good listening music in the style of Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and other big bands of the Swing Era.
Organized in August 2023 by bandleader and saxophonist Claire Curry, Las Pulgas Big Band is centered in Redwood City, California, and plays for parties, dances and fairs in the Bay Area.
The name Las Pulgas, the Fleas, reflects the local history of the vicinity and its early ranch genesis.
Many of our musicians live in this area; our ages currently range from 21 to 87.
All of us play together because we love playing the kind of music that makes people want to get up and dance – swing music!
We usually play a mix of foxtrots, waltzes, Latin, ballads, and jitterbug, and often add in some polkas, tangos, and yes, even line dances. Come on out and dance, or at least tap your toes!
General admission donation of $10.00.
Wine, beer and other beverages will be available for purchase.
We appreciate your generous donation that supports the Youth Services and other community programs of the Half Moon Bay Odd Fellows.
Seating is general admission so arrive early for the best seats. Our hall has great acoustics and sight lines throughout, so you are sure to have an enjoyable experience.
