BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In 2021, the CUSD Real Estate Committee sought firms to identify new or different uses of current campus and land holdings with the intent of determining the highest and best use and fair market value for surplus properties or properties that might become surplus. The CUSD Real Estate Committee asked interested firms to respond to its Request for Proposals (RFP) to provide consultation in all the areas entailed in this work.

Brookwood Advisors was selected as the firm to assist with this work. Based on CUSD Governing Board direction and guidance, staff requested approval from the Board for additional services from Brookwood Advisors to further explore the use of surplus and underutilized CUSD properties for the purpose of planning the building of affordable workforce housing options for CUSD staff at the March 13, 2023, Governing Board meeting. Brookwood Advisors and district staff then presented preliminary plans at a series of

community engagement meetings in October of 2023. After gaining input from the public and staff who attended these community engagement meetings, Brookwood Advisors revised and updated these plans to reflect the input provided in these community engagement meetings.

REPORT/PROPOSAL

Brookwood Advisors now presents a revised and updated Workforce Housing Plan based on community input.

FISCAL ANALYSIS
