PRESS RELEASE. From the California Department Fish and Wildlife Department (CDFW) on December 7th, 2023.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced they are offering low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses economically impacted by the 2023 California Salmon Fishery Closure that occurred from April 6 through October 31. Eligibility for assistance is based on the financial impact of the disaster only and not on any actual property damage.
The deadline to apply is Aug. 29, 2024.
The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Alameda, Amador, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Del Norte, Humboldt, Kern, Kings, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity and Yolo counties in California.
The California Small Business Development Centers are offering free, personalized counseling to help affected businesses in their recovery. Business owners may visit https://www.californiasbdc.org/find-your-sbdc/ to locate a Small Business Development Center near you. Visitors are encouraged to call first for an appointment.
Applicants may apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at SBA.gov/disaster.
