VIDEO. From the Half Moon Bay City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at 7:00pm, as a hybrid meeting.
Agenda
By Resolution, adopt Phase One of the Half Moon Bay Climate Action and Adaptation Plan.
California continues to lead the fight against climate change at the State, county, and local levels. The State passed the following legislation establishing ambitious statewide greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals: • Senate Bill 32 (SB 32), 2016 – established the goal of reducing GHG emissions 40% below 1990 levels by 2030 • Assembly Bill 1279 (AB 1279), 2022 – established the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045 at the latest and maintaining net negative emissions from that point forward.
The California Climate Adaptation Strategy, mandated by Assembly Bill 1482 (Gordon, 2015), links together the state’s existing and planned climate adaptation efforts, showing how they fit together to achieve California’s six climate resilience priorities.

At the same time they are encouraging more people, more building, more pavement, more resource use in a city that is already not sustainable. Doesn’t compute.
