Agenda for 1.F A. Staff Recommendation:

Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 3 to the Maintenance Agreement with Caltrans for maintenance responsibilities for the Eastside Parallel Trail North – Segment 4 (CIP No. 619).

“On October 17, 2023, the City Council accepted the amendment to the Caltrans maintenance agreement, which was required prior to Caltrans approval of the project. The project will need to go through a public bidding process, which is anticipated for early 2024. Groundbreaking for the project is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2024. Construction is estimated to take 6-9 months to complete, depending on weather.”

HMB Planning Approves CDP for Construction of 0.3 Miles of the East-side Parallel Trail from Mirada Rd (The Barn) to Roosevelt

Project Description: The project will extend the current Class I path (North end of Naomi Patridge Trail) from Roosevelt Blvd north to the city limits at Mirada Road (approximately 0.26 miles) to connect with the proposed San Mateo County trail coming from the north (El Granada).

Project Status:   Caltrans is reviewing the Hydraulic Studies and the Bridge Type Selection Report.  City is completing the environmental document to be approved by the Planning Commission.

Funding Source: Measure A grant from San Mateo County Transportation Authority, TDA Article 3, and City General Fund.

Latest Update: 3/5/2022– The City has completed 95% plans and submitted to Caltrans for permitting.  Caltrans has required the City to go through the PEER process due to existence of several drainage crossings which require Hydraulic Studies and a Bridge Type Selection Report (prepared and submitted to Caltrans for review). The environmental clearance is in progress.  The City has received approval for TDA Article 3 grant  for additional construction funding.  It is now expected that the project will start constructon in 2023 and connect to the County’s Class I trail coming from the North (design of the connection is being coordinated).
