The Coastal Butterfly with the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

coastalbutterfly-fbJoin longtime local and social butterfly Michelle Dragony as she flits up and down the Coastside on her intrepid cruiser Flame, chatting with coastal characters at every turn!

This week Michelle has two guests, Kellie Morlock of the CoastViews Music Calendar, and Peter Bland, creator of the Riley West Scholarship. Kelly speaks about her long experience with gospel music, which led her to the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. The choir originally came out from the Living Jazz program Jazz Camp West, and is open to people of all faiths – or none. Its music takes influences from many other music traditions besides African-American gospel music. Led by music legend Terrance Kelly, through the connection Kellie had with the choir, they were able to bring Gospel on the Coast to Half Moon Bay. Gospel on the Coast IV happens on Saturday June 4 and you can buy tickets here: http://www.oigc.org/events/2016/6/4/gospel-on-the-coast-iv

You can also learn more about the choir’s story in their 30th anniversary video below.
